Jessica Romero has 15 years of experience in education. She is a graduate of MacArthur High School. She received her bachelor's degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of Houston- Main Campus in 2003.  She began her career in Aldine ISD as a bilingual teacher and after seeing a high need for Spanish speaking counselors, she earned her master's degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M in 2007. She also earned her master's degree in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M in 2013.

Karina Barrera has 20 years of experience in education. She received her bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Houston- Main Campus in 1999. She also earned her MEd. in Counseling in 2004 from the University of Houston-Main Campus. Ms. Barrera was in Houston ISD for 7 years before joining the Aldine ISD family as a counselor at MacArthur in 2006.

Ann Starks has over 20 years experience in education.  She received an associate's degree in Business from Houston Community College,  a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Houston, and a master's degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. Mrs. Starks began her career in Aldine as a second grade teacher at Smith Academy. In 2000, she went to Escamilla Intermediate and remained there for almost 18 years as a teacher.  She joined Jones Middle School for a short time as a counselor before transitioning to MacArthur High School.  For her, it is a special treat to work with high school students whom she once served  in intermediate.

Mr. Courtney Williams              Student Assignment: A - Can

Williams

Courtney Williams obtained his Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Houston. He furthered his educational prowess by receiving his Master’s degree in Counselor Education from St. Thomas University. Mr. Williams is an Eisenhower High School alumni. He started in Aldine ISD as an Avid Tutor at Eisenhower Ninth Grade School in 2002. He placed his finger print on the CTE department’s curriculum writing process, ensuring a strategic and purposeful curriculum for the students. Throughout his time in the district, he served as a CTE instructor from 2008 to 2018, before transitioning into the prestigious role of an academic counselor at MacArthur High School.

Jasmine Hunt received her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Prairie View A&M University in 2012 and also receiving her masters in Counseling in 2015. She started her journey in education at Aldine Middle School a 7th and 8th grade History Teacher before transitioning as an academic counselor at MacArthur Senior High School.

Nicole Snyder received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She moved to Houston in 2013 to begin her career in Aldine ISD at Worsham Elementary School teaching both the 1st and 3rd grade. During this time, she attended Texas A&M University to receive her master's in educational psychology. This led her to transition in the the role of a school counselor at MacArthur High School.

Ms. Cassandra Richard      Student Assignment: T - V

Cassandra Richard received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University in 1992 and her master's degree in Counseling in 1999 from Prairie View A&M University. She began her career in education in 1995 as a CTE teacher at Aldine High School.  In 1999, she became a counselor in the same building.  In 2007, she moved to Nimitz High School and served as an Assistant Principal there for four years.  Ms. Richard moved into her current position as a counselor at MacArthur High School in 2011.  She also serves as the Dual Credit Counselor at MacArthur.  She has spent all 23 years in education with Aldine ISD.

Mrs. LaQuanti West              Student Assignment: Mas - Ort

LaQuanti West received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Texas Southern University in 2007, and her Master of Education degree in Counselor Education from the University of St. Thomas in 2013. She began her teaching career in 2008, at Chester W. Nimitz Sr. High School where she taught both Chemistry and Integrated Physics & Chemistry (IPC) for 4 years. In 2012, she moved to Benjamin O. Davis Senior High School where she served as IPC team lead in the Science Department. In 2015, LaQuanti was
appointed to the position of counselor at Douglas MacArthur Senior High School. LaQuanti has 10 years of experience as a professional educator, all which have been served in Aldine Independent School District.

Edna Carmona                     Student assignment: Je - Mart

Edna P. Carmona received a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Arts from the University of Texas in Austin.  After gaining experience as an educator, Ms. Carmona decided to pursue a career in school counseling.  She received her master’s degree in Counseling Education from the University of St. Thomas.  Ms. Carmona was a Spanish teacher for 7 years before transitioning to MacArthur Senior High School where she serves as an academic counselor.

Deadrine Baynard          Student assignment: Je - Mart 



Deadrine Baynard has 25 years of experience in education.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston-Main Campus in 1992.  Mrs. Baynard began her career in Humble ISD and came to Aldine in 2001. She earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University in 2012.  Mrs. Baynard is currently a Special Education Counselor at MacArthur High School and Grantham Academy since 2014.

Lourdes Kohne



Lourdes Kohne obtained her bachelor’s degree in Education and master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance and Special Education Counseling at the University of Texas at Brownsville. With over 20 years experience in education, she worked as a teacher in both Brownsville and Alief before serving as an elementary and career counselor in Galena Park ISD. Additionally, she was the GEARUP Director for the San Jacinto College and Galena Park program for seven years. Lourdes has served as an Intervention Specialist at McArthur High School since 2011. It has always been her desire to help each student grow and develop into happy, independent, and successful individuals.

Vernett Dubose

Vernett K. Dubose has 21 years of experience in education. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology and minor in Chemistry from Southern University at New Orleans in 1997. She began her teaching career as a Biology and special education teacher in Jefferson Parish Public School Systems in 1997. She moved from Louisiana and continued her teaching career in Aldine ISD in 2004. She earned her master’s degree in Counseling from Prairie View A & M University in 2006. This led her to transition into her current role as a special education counselor in 2007.
